The 2008 Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series was AMG's harder-edged, limited-production take on the CLK 63, and this example, finished in Black, is for sale at Sienna Collection in Pompano Beach, Florida. AMG widened the body, reworked the suspension, fitted larger brakes and cut the cabin back to two seats. What stayed at the center of the car was a hand-built, naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 from the years before AMG moved to turbocharging. That V8 is rated at 500 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. It drives the rear wheels through a 7-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission and a rear limited-slip differential, with no turbochargers between the throttle pedal and the response. The Black Series changes go well past trim: wide-body fenders, more aggressive front and rear aerodynamics, track-focused AMG suspension tuning with driver-adjustable ride height, a larger performance braking system, and wheels and bodywork specific to the model. The fixed-roof coupe body carries a rear spoiler and a quad-tip exhaust. Inside, black leather covers a pair of heated, power-adjustable seats, and carbon fiber trims the dash, doors and center console. Equipment on this pre-owned 2008 Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series includes a harman/kardon audio system with a subwoofer, DVD navigation, cruise control, driver seat memory, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated headlight cleaners and auto-locking power doors. None of it softens the car much. The Black Series name has always marked AMG at its most extreme, and collectors seek this model out for its mix of large-displacement naturally aspirated power, rear-wheel drive and limited production. It fits the buyer who is building an AMG collection, and equally the driver who wants a raw V8 coupe from the 2000s with motorsport-inspired chassis tuning.
